Choosing a paint for interior walls

2023-11-23

Choosing paint for interior walls depends on the size of rooms, colours (another blog), the look you want, ambience and usage. At Paint Magic, we are painters who will help you make the right choices.

A flat paint is always a latex paint. It looks luxurious in a living room or a den. It scuffs easily and doesn’t clean well so is not suitable for a kitchen, bathroom or where children play.

Eggshell paint has a low sheen, is decorative, and is suitable for hallways and bedrooms. It cleans better than a flat paint finish but doesn’t work well in kitchens, bathrooms or utility rooms.

The most popular paint finish is satin. It cleans well and is a good choice for bedrooms, hallways, dining areas, doors and even trim.

A Semi-gloss paint gives trim, doors, kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms a medium sheen. Semi-gloss is washable for those areas where dirt accumulates.

A high-gloss finish is ideal for trim and most doors. It works in bathrooms and kitchens, too. Colours will appear darker and more intense. High gloss makes clean-up much easier. It makes a smooth preparation more important as details and imperfections are highly noticeable.

Paint Magic only uses the highest quality Benjamin Moore and Cloverdale paints. We are a residential painter living and working in Parksville/ Qualicum Beach. We’ll help you choose paint colours that blend and interior sheen that works with the light, and we'll help you make your residence more beautiful than ever.
